Pixar shows how it has put together all the pieces for its upcoming feature The Good Dinosaur in a new full-length trailer released this morning:

The movie, directed by Peter Sohn (Partly Cloudy), is high-concept piled atop high-concept. It’s an alternate history film, in which the dinosaur extinction never happened; a prehistoric road movie (before roads existed); and a novel twist on the “boy-and-his-dog” genre, with the boy being the dinosaur and the pet a human boy. Add some of Pixar’s patented heartstring-tugging and you’ve got the whole package.

Good Dinosaur will mark the studio’s second release this year, following its near-flawless Inside Out. The film was originally slated for release last year, but delayed after behind-the-scenes turmoil resulted in the dismissal of Good Dino’s conceptualizer and first director Bob Peterson.

The film’s head of story is Pixar veteran Enrico Casarosa (La Luna) and the screenplay is written by Meg LeFauve, who also wrote the screenplay for Inside Out. Good Dinosaur will release in the U.S. on November 25th.
