The 2015 Ottawa International Animation Festival is just around the corner, and the festival recently announced its competition selections.

The annual animation event, the most prestigious of its kind in North America, received 2,088 entries this year. From those entries, 79 animated films from 23 countries were chosen for the official competition. An additional 69 films will be screened in Ottawa’s showcase programs. To see all of this year’s selections, head to the festival website.

“This was without doubt one of the strongest years I can recall,” said Chris Robinson, the festival’s artistic director. “The quality of almost every category was high. We could have easily added another 1-2 competition screenings. Animators continue to prove that animation is the summit of all arts. I’m really excited to see how audiences — and juries — react to this year’s diverse group of works.”

This year’s jury members consist of Chris Dainty, Kaspar Jancis, Maral Mohammadian, Leah Shore, Yiorgos Tsangaris, and Saschka Unseld. The festival will take place from September 16-20 in Ottawa, Canada.
