One of the key places to meet and interact with the top players in Mexico’s fast-developing animation industry is the Pixelatl Festival, which takes place annually in September.

The event’s many screenings, workshops, marketplace, and competitive pitching/development program Ideatoon help Mexican artists establish links with the international animation, comic, and video game communities, while encouraging them to develop and hone their personal creative voice.

Cartoon Brew, in partnership with Dessignare Media, created a video at the most recent festival, in which we spoke with three of the Mexican artists who presented this year: illustrator and storyboard artist Melissa Ballesteros (Mighty Animation), comic artist and illustrator Raven Bazan, and Pixar visual development artist Ana Ramirez. In the video, the artists talk about this year’s festival theme of storytelling and what it means to them:
