Japanese studio Trigger has released the trailer for its Little Witch Academia series, which is scheduled to start airing on Netflix in early 2017:

Created by Yoh Yoshinari as a short film in 2013, Little Witch Academia is a Harry Potter-esque story about a girl, Akko Kagari, who enrolls into a school for young witches. Yoshinari created the short as part of the Japanese government-funded initiative Young Animator Training Project, in which young artists collaborate with major studios to create short films.

The success of Little Witch Academia inspired a second short, Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade, which raised over $625,000 through a Kickstarter campaign, more than four times its original goal.

The series, helmed by creator Yoshinari, will be comprised of 30-minute episodes, but there are no details yet on how many episodes will be in the first season or in which territories Netflix will broadcast the series.
