Hidive Expands Fall Anime Slate With ‘Nia Liston’ And ‘Tetsuryo,’ Extends MBS Deal

AMC Networks’ anime streamer Hidive has expanded its fall lineup with two new series and extended its output agreement with Japan’s Mainichi Broadcasting System (MBS). Under the renewal, Hidive will continue to exclusively stream select MBS-produced anime titles outside of Asia.

Hidive’s original agreement with MBS was announced in 2023 and described at the time as the largest anime content deal in Sentai Filmworks’ history.

The first announced series under the extension is Nia Liston: The Merciless Maiden, an action-fantasy adaptation debuting in October. Based on Umikaze Minamino’s light novels, it follows a legendary warrior who dies regretting that she never encountered an opponent strong enough to defeat her. She awakens in the body of a sickly young noblewoman but retains her appetite for combat.

Motoki Nakanishi directs the series at Konami Animation, with Gigaemon Ichikawa overseeing series composition and Yuki Ito and Kana Tosaoka handling character designs.

Hidive has separately acquired Tetsuryo! Meet with Tetsudou Musume, an original slice-of-life series also launching in October. It follows four university students in a train travel club as they journey across Japan and meet women employed by the country’s railways.

The series is part of the 20th-anniversary celebration for Takara Tomy subsidiary Tomytec’s Tetsudou Musume franchise, which turns real railway jobs and locations into anime characters. Misuzu Hoshino directs at East Fish Studio from scripts by Aya Satsuki, with character designs by Naofumi Hashimoto.
