Super Mario Bros. Super Mario Bros.

Swing your arms from side to side! Ahead of this weekend’s high-profile arrival of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, MeTV Toons is offering up an Italian antipasto of classic plumber cartoons.

Starting today, March 30, The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! joined the network’s weekday morning lineup in the 8:00 a.m. timeslot. The synergy isn’t subtle: with Mario once again headed to theaters, MeTV Toons is tapping into the renewed hype cycle around Nintendo’s most valuable character.

The 1989 series, which mixes animation with unforgettable live-action segments starring iconic WWF manager Lou Albano and The Jeffersons’s Danny Wells, is a natural fit for the network’s retro-cartoon identity, and a reminder of how long Mario has been a fixture outside of his video game homeland.

More Mario is on the way, too, with Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World set to follow later this year.
