Living the Dream Living the Dream

Netflix has announced Living the Dream, a new adult animated workplace comedy from BAFTA-nominated creator George Gendi (The Amazing World of Gumball, Apple & Onion) and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe. The series was revealed by Julio Bonet, Netflix’s director of animation series, during the State of the Animation Nation panel at the Manchester Animation Festival.

The eight-episode, 25-minute series, which will be animated by Ireland’s Boulder Media (Danger Mouse, Cat Burglar) follows best friends Des and Ray, two Londoners who “should have made it big by now but haven’t – but still could.” Instead, they find themselves working at Ecofood, a self-serious eco-conscious company, struggling through awkward office romances, HR mishaps, and corporate chaos while trying to keep their dreams alive.

Executive producers of the new show include Warner Bros. Animation boss Sam Register, Sarah Fell, and Daniel Lennard. Writers on the series are Phoebe Walsh, Ellie White, Joe Parnham, Joe Markham, and Gendi.

Gendi, who also stars in the series, said:

If living the dream is being asked for a quote for a press release to announce my new show and then at Netflix’s request, trying to make it more cheeky/funny and then doing that countless times because none of them are good enough, then I’ve made it. Anyway, let’s see if they let me use this one.

Joining Gendi in the show’s ensemble cast are Javone Prince, Julia Davis, Ellie White, Ambika Mod, Chris Diamantopoulos, and Stavros Halkias, among others.

No release date has been announced yet, but Living the Dream marks Netflix’s latest collaboration with Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe following the continued success of The Amazing World of Gumball universe.
