First Look: Jorge Gutiérrez’s Limited Adult Animation Series Project ‘El Guapo Vs The Narco Vampires’ (EXCLUSIVE)
Jorge Gutiérrez, creator of The Book of Life, El Tigre, and Maya and the Three, is developing his first adult animated limited series, El Guapo vs the Narco Vampires, and has shared early development artwork from the show with Cartoon Brew.
Some of these images have been circulating on social media, while others are being made public for the first time.
Background artwork was created by Roman Laney (El Tigre, The Simpsons Intro), and the boards of those panels were designed by Gus Cosio (Maya and the Three) and Eddie Trigueros (El Tigre). All of the characters were done by Gutiérrez.
“I’m currently bleeding (joyfully) all over a brand-new indie adult animation pilot called EL GUAPO VS THE NARCO VAMPIRES. It’s pretty insane. It’s totally unhinged. I love it with all my mustached heart,” Gutiérrez posted to his various social media accounts last week.
Although he prefers to keep most of the show’s details under wraps for now, Gutiérrez tells us, “A 30-minute pilot on reels is already done, and Ánima Estudios (Batman Azteca, Las Leyendas) in Mexico is animating the first three minutes to show what the limited series would look like.”
Sebastián and Diego Ramirez, better known as Awesombrosos, created the show’s teaser poster, seen below.
