Paris-based animation powerhouse Xilam (Oggy and the Cockroaches, I Lost My Body) has given the green light to Chickies, a new CG comedy series spun off from its global short-form success Where’s Chicky?. The series has already secured its first presale with France Télévisions.

The originally French dialogue-driven show, aimed at children aged four to seven, is now in production and is slated for delivery by June 2027. It follows Chicky, Bekky, and Poyo, three curious, mischievous chicks whose urge to explore the world beyond their henhouse sparks “hilarity and a series of disasters,” according to a release.

The move builds on the global reach of Where’s Chicky?, which has amassed 7 billion YouTube views, 10 million subscribers, and six million followers across TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. On Okoo, France TV’s kids’ platform, the original ranks among the top 10 titles for the last two years.

As global streamers continue to tighten commissioning budgets, strong broadcast partnerships are becoming increasingly vital for independent studios in Europe. Securing backing from established players like France Télévisions not only helps finance ambitious new IP but also ensures a broad local reach and aids in long-term brand building, as with Chickies, factors that have become increasingly difficult to guarantee in today’s more selective streaming landscape.

Marc du Pontavice, CEO & founder of Xilam, said:

The world of Where’s Chicky? has brought viewers joy, education and humor for over 10 years, and it’s one of our most popular IPs across both traditional broadcasters and digital channels. For us, it’s a natural step forward to expand the universe with Chickies and bring a longer-form, dialogue-driven series to global audiences – and it’s fantastic to have our trusted partner France Télévisions on board to bring this to life.

With Chickies, Xilam, the studio behind Oggy and the Cockroaches, Zig & Sharko, and the Oscar-nominated I Lost My Body, continues to strengthen its slate across TV, streaming, and theatrical animation.
