Creative MetLife Spot Starring Snoopy

Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts gang have been spokestoons for the insurance giant MetLife for nearly 30 years. The ads are rarely anything beyond the ordinary, but this latest one has an inventive conceptual approach that I liked.

Ogilvy & Mather-owned Redworks produced the spot, and Polish studio Platige Image provided visual effects/post work.

    It is very clever.
The shadow of the tree branches got me good. It isn’t just shape, it is linework.

I can’t explain why that difference grabbed me but seeing that alone would make me smile. Animate a gif, somebody. Better yet, someone animated shadow snoopy!

  • This is awesome, I love it. Took me a minute to find the Snoopy at 00:15.

Certainly beats their earlier ads where Lucy and Charlie Brown are in a MetLife conference room…

BIG BEAGLE IS WATCHING YOU. (Really though, it’s a cute, creative ad.)

Snoopy is EVERYWHERE! It’s the Beagle Conspiracy!

All kidding aside, nicely done, even if it’s light on the actual animation. A subtle approach is the way to go with a product like insurance (not that I didn’t enjoy the “cartoon reunion” ad from last year’s Super Bowl!)

  • I like how they started using the 60s-70s Snoopy lately.
