“Holy Cow!” “Holy Cow!”

“Holy Cow!”

Animator Joseph Bennett’s (Odin’s Afterbirth) latest project for J. Walter Thompson is not for the squeamish. Its designed to promote a BBQ truck at the SXSW Film Festival this week, and will be projected (along with a companion film) on local buildings during the fest. All of the animators involved have been featured previously on the Brew: Jake Armstrong (The Terrible thing of Alpha-9), Chadwick Whitehead (Revenge of the Giant Toothpaste Tube) and Lizzi Akana (Your Love Is My Drug).

  • You know what, I haven’t been pleasantly shocked like that in a long time. Congrats, and thank god I love meat.

  • Very funny – and in bad taste. But then again, how can BBQ taste bad? Hilarious and well done! Well, maybe medium.

My Vegan son will disown me – but what the hell?

lotsa fun stuff, especially the grater slide….ode to Lupo.

  • Thank goodness I’m vegetarian…

  • I think the whole thing is an ode to Lupo.

Truly horrific… and yet I couldnt stop watching. Nice work, everybody!

  • Scott B.

    I’ll never eat barbeque again.

  • Love it! My son was just asking me the other day why the pig and chicken on the logo for our favorite barbecue joint looked so happy, since they were going to be eaten. Maybe I should show him this film. You’re never too young to have your psyche damaged, right?

  • Spencer

    Das a succulent animatoon.

  • Deacon Blues

“Holy Cow!” will appeal to hungry carnivores and (as anti-meat propaganda) vegans alike. The bit with the pig server feeding parts of the bovine to itself until it’s just a head makes a fine comment on our consumer culture, on every level. And that old time fox trot needle drop score helps win even skeptics over. Trust me, this thing is gonna move a lotta meat! Hell, I only ingest tofu and it made ME hungry.

  • christy

    really funny gags!!!!

  • Baron Lego

That cow and pig need their own, insanely violent, cartoon show.

  • Tom Pope

Truly awesome!! The most honest food-related commercial I think I’ve ever seen.

    • Xgeeme

JJ Sedelmaier’s fried chicken commercial would like to have a talk with you.

  • Stephen M. Levinson

    Bad ass! Nice work guys!

This clip was horrific, but full of creativity. Reminds me of another post on this site(at least I think I saw it here first) called suicide food. The archives filed under “sexy” are anthropomorphism at its creepiest, much like those Orangina adds I have seen on this site. Link: http://suicidefood.blogspot.com/

  • Brilliantly creative and hilarious. I’m sure people who enjoy eating meat will get a huge kick out of this.
