Four animated features have been nominated by the European Film Academy (EFA) for its 31st European Film Awards, which will be presented on December 15 in Seville, Spain.

The nominees are:

  • Another Day of Life — directors: Raul de la Fuente, Damian Nenow (Poland, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Hungary)
  • Early Man — director: Nick Park (U.K.)
  • The Breadwinner — director: Nora Twomey (Ireland, Canada, Luxembourg)
  • White Fang (Croc-blanc) — director: Alexandre Espigares (France, Luxembourg)

The only film in the group which also qualified for this year’s Academy Award race is Aardman’s Early Man, while Cartoon Saloon’s The Breadwinner was nominated for an Oscar last season.

Additionally, in the category for European short film, two of the fifteen nominees are animated films: What’s the Damage by Heather Phillipson (U.K.) and Wildebeest by Nicolas Keppens and Matthias Phlips (Belgium)
