Oscars online shorts 2021 Oscars online shorts 2021

Earlier this month, we exclusively reported that 96 animated shorts have qualified for this year’s Oscar. That may be a record.

As every year, some of the qualified films can be watched online for free. We’ve listed them below. A caveat: the availability of these shorts is subject to change at any moment, and others not currently on the list may come online — we’ll endeavor to add them here as and when they do.

Our list doesn’t feature films that can be watched online with a streaming subscription. These include Disney-Pixar’s Out, Loop, Wind, Float, and Burrow, as well as Maggie Simpson in “Playdate with Destiny”, which are available on Disney+; Netflix’s three shorts in contention: Canvas, Cops and Robbers, and If Anything Happens I Love You; and Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth, which is on Apple TV+.

Preliminary voting for the Oscars takes place next week, and the shortlist for this category will be published on February 9. Nominations will be announced on March 15, with the ceremony due to take place on April 25.
