American Greetings Entertainment, the IP licensing and entertainment arm of American Greetings, has changed its name to Cloudco Entertainment. The name change follows the recent spinoff from its parent company into a stand-alone business.

Besides the name change, everything else remains the same from an operational perspective. Long-time owners, the Weiss family, retain 100 percent ownership of Cloudco, and all current key Cloudco executives and management remain in place.

Cloudco’s IP includes ownership of the following kids brands: Care Bears, Holly Hobbie, Madballs, Buddy Thunderstruck, and Tinpo.

Cloudco announced that it is developing a hybrid animation/live-action Care Bears feature film with a soon-to-be-announced major Hollywood studio.

The comapny is also producing a Holly Hobbie live-action tv series with Aircraft Pictures and Wexworks Media for Hulu, Family Channel in Canada, and The Universal Kids Channel, as well as an original animated series, Tinpo, for Cbeebies in partnership with OLM/Sprite Animation and Dentsu Inc.

Cloudco will continue to work closely with American Greetings, the 112-year-old Cleveland, Ohio-based company, on marketing initiatives, content development, and consumer product programs. “American Greetings is in the DNA of our company and our brands,” said Sean Gorman, president of Cloudco Entertainment. “But it’s also undeniably exciting to spread our wings, and with a slew of forthcoming announcements across several brands, it feels like now is the hour to leave the nest and take flight.”
