Powerhouse Animation Studios in Austin, Texas has moved into new digs and is looking to employ new talent.

The studio has increased its space from 6,000 to 9,000 square feet and now resides at North MoPac Expressway.

Founded in 2001, Powerhouse specializes, in the words of their cheeky promo, in “pure, organic, traditional, American animation.” “People always tell us this type of animation is no longer being done in the US,” CEO and co-founder Brad Graeber told Cartoon Brew via email. “But they are wrong. We are doing it at Powerhouse. We are committed to keeping quality traditional animation production alive in the US.”

Powerhouse, which also opened a new satellite office in Burbank in 2014, has hired around 15 additional artists in the last year and currently has 46 employees. The studio recorded revenue of $3 million last year, according to the Austin Business Journal, and expects 130 percent revenue growth this year.

The studio is actively seeking new talent. “Powerhouse is a fun place to work,” Graeber said. “There is a motorcycle made of balloons and a clown in our office’s arcade as I write this. I don’t want to explain that. It’s just another day at Powerhouse.”

Past Powerhouse clients include Sony, Disney, EA, and Nickelodeon, with work encompassing video games, television, online content, and slot machine visuals. Notable projects include the It’s a Small World: Animated Series, short-form Dilbert episodes, cinematics for the Epic Mickey video games, and a video game series for Old Spice.
