RWBY RWBY

Viz Media has partnered with management and production company The Gotham Group to develop film and TV projects based on its growing library of original properties.

The agreement will include potential adaptations of titles published under the Viz Originals banner, as well as new projects built around the animated franchise RWBY, according to Deadline. No specific productions, formats, or release dates have been announced.

Viz acquired RWBY from Warner Bros. Discovery in 2024 following the closure of the series’ original producer, Rooster Teeth. Created by the late Monty Oum, the CG fantasy series debuted online in 2013 and has since expanded into manga, video games, merchandise, spinoffs, and two crossover films with DC’s Justice League.

A tenth volume of the main series is currently in production. Viz president and CEO Brad Woods said the Gotham partnership represents the next stage in the company’s effort to develop RWBY as a global, multiplatform franchise while bringing its original graphic novels to new audiences.
