My vote for the most provocative animated film review of the year: the CBC’s Robert Fontaine and his dual-assessment of Disney’s Big Hero 6 and Signe Baumane’s indie feature Rocks in my Pockets.

Listen to it here:

Can one truly compare a $165-million buffed-to-a-glossy-shine children’s film with a micro-budget rough-around-the-edges deeply personal adult feature? Impossible you say? But that’s exactly what Academy members are doing right now as they whittle down 20 animated features into five nominees.

So, which film is better? If you ask Fontaine, Rocks in My Pockets is the hands-down superior effort. But Academy members will have the final say.
