Animation+ Expands To Linear Broadcasting With Weekend Late-Night Block On Vice TV

Independent adult animation platform Animation+ is expanding onto linear television through a new partnership with VICE TV.

Beginning August 14, Animation+ Mixtape will air Fridays and Saturdays from midnight to 2 a.m. The weekly late-night block will feature a rotating selection of creator-driven comedy, cult favorites, original shorts, independent series, and specials.

The broadcast block will feature work from Explosm (The Cyanide & Happiness Show), Sick Animation, Steve Cutts, Rott3d, Jarrad Wright, David Firth, and, according to A+, “a new wave of groundbreaking independent animated comedy creators.”

“Vice has always had a talent for championing voices that don’t fit neatly into traditional media, and that’s exactly what Animation+ was built to celebrate,” Animation+ co-founders Evan Weiss and John Fitzpatrick said in a statement. “We couldn’t ask for a more fitting platform to introduce their work to wider audiences.”

Vice TV president Pete Gaffney added: “Our audience craves edgy, distinct, and original voices that push boundaries, and we’re proud to partner with Animation+ to showcase some of the best independent animated content available today.”

Launched in 2024, Animation+ has steadily expanded its distribution footprint since launching exclusively on Samsung TV Plus. Animation+ programming is now available through platforms including Roku, Tubi, Vizio WatchFree+, Plex, and Hisense VIDAA. A recent expansion of its Tubi partnership brought series including Melvin’s Macabre, Purgatony, Monster Lab, and PSI Cops to the streamer.

The Vice TV deal gives the company another outlet for introducing independently produced animation to audiences beyond its existing streaming channels.
