Disney and Pixar’s Cars will return to theaters on September 4 to celebrate the film’s 20th anniversary.
The date coincides with Lightning McQueen Day, observed on September 5 each year by those who celebrate in recognition of the character’s racing number, 95. Disney is marking the anniversary with a year-long slate of promotions, including Route 66 screenings, museum exhibitions, motorsports activations, branded simulator experiences, and integrations across several games.
John Lasseter directed the film with Joe Ranft, and Darla K. Anderson produced it, with original music by Pixar favorite Randy Newman. It earned two Academy Award nominations and launched a long-running Pixar franchise.
