CBeebies, France TV, RTÉ Board Karrot And Kavaleer’s New 2D Preschool Series ‘MaeBee’
Emmy-winning studio Karrot Entertainment – whose credits include Sarah & Duck, The Snowy Day, and animation work on recent episodes of Peppa Pig – and Kavaleer Productions (Kiva Can Do) have teamed up for MaeBee, a new original preschool comedy now officially greenlit with CBeebies (U.K.), France Télévisions, and RTÉ (Ireland).
Created by Tim and Becca O’Sullivan, MaeBee follows Mae, a small-but-mighty only-child gnome who dreams of being big, and her foster brother, Bee. The series promises “bold, co-viewing comedy and contemporary design,” and will launch for buyers at MIPJunior and MIPCOM with a planned Q3 2026 rollout.
“I’m so excited about sharing the world of MaeBee because it is a fusion of many of my favorite things: folk art, fairy tale and fantasy, storytelling, nature, self-growth, and community,” said Becca in a release. Tim added: “We have spent the last six years dreaming up Mae and Bee’s Gnomish world, full of its own traditions, myths, and magic, so it is fantastic to finally get to share it with everyone, who’ll hopefully find something both familiar yet surprising!”
France TV Distribution is handling global sales outside English-speaking territories, with Karrot retaining English-language and licensing rights.
“MaeBee is a beautifully imaginative and emotionally rich series that speaks directly to the heart of our audience,” said Kate Morton, senior head of commissioning for CBeebies. “Tim and Becca’s world is whimsical, warm, and full of surprises.”
Karrot CEO Chris White added, “Broadcasters have been eagerly discovering this new IP, which builds on all the charm and confidence of Sarah & Duck with a lively, irresistible new energy.”
Gary Timpson, Managing Director of Kavaleer, said, “From the very first pitch, I was enthralled with the concept, the characters, and the stunning artwork. We can’t wait to get into production.”
The 52×7’ series will launch production this month, using Celaction 2D between Karrot’s London studio and Kavaleer’s Dublin base. The show is backed by Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, the BFI’s UK Global Screen Fund, and other public incentives.
MaeBee will debut to buyers at MIPJunior and MIPCOM, ahead of its 2026 launch.
