In a major milestone for creator-driven, digital-native animation, Glitch Productions’ The Amazing Digital Circus is heading to U.S. theaters this summer for its finale episode, “The Last Act.”

Partnering with event-based experts Fathom Entertainment, the companies will release the feature-length conclusion nationwide from June 4–7, combining episode eight with a new, hour-long ninth episode. Tickets are now on sale.

Originally debuting online in 2023, the Gooseworx-created series has surpassed one billion views and even cracked Netflix’s global top five more than a year after its debut, an unusual achievement that underscores its staying power across different platforms.

For Glitch, the theatrical rollout validates a model that sidesteps traditional gatekeepers. Co-founder Kevin Lerdwichagul said in a release:

Glitch Productions is proving itself as the ultimate disruptor to the traditional animation industry with ‘The Amazing Digital Circus.’ Offering an alternative online distribution model that bypasses corporate oversight, maintains creative freedom and uplifts passionate, thought-provoking and visually-striking projects, we are thrilled to partner with Fathom and bring ‘The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act’ to fans the series finale on the big screen across the U.S. in theatres nationwide.

Fathom CEO Ray Nutt frames the release as part of a broader shift in theatrical programming:

The Amazing Digital Circus has had a remarkable and organic rise in popularity these past couple of years, with an unparalleled fanbase that is yearning for its dramatic conclusion of the hit animated web series. Fathom is thrilled to partner with Glitch and bring the long-awaited episode nine series finale to theatres. Fathom continues looking for the most compelling theatrical content – regardless of format – and is leading the industry in redefining consumer expectations for what is possible on the big screen.

As we discussed yesterday, digital-native IP is increasingly reframing the animation industry as traditional models continue to struggle. With The Amazing Digital Circus, that evolution now extends to traditional theatrical distribution, once the exclusive domain of legacy studios.
