‘Monkey King’ Director Tian Xiaopeng’s ‘Deep Sea’ Gets Full Trailer

October Media and Coloroom Pictures, an Enlight Media company, have released the breathtaking trailer for Deep Sea, the upcoming animated feature from October founder Tian Xiaopeng, director of Monkey King: Hero is Back.

Xiaopeng will be looking to emulate the success of Monkey King, which broke all kinds of records at the Chinese box office on its way to becoming the country’s highest-grossing domestic animated film before it was passed in 2019 by another October-Coloroom co-produced film, Yu Yang’s Ne Zha.

Deep Sea is a 3d animated feature which utilizes traditional Chinese aesthetics to tell a fantasy story set against a modern background. The film follows a young girl who is thrust into a once in a lifetime journey set in a new and mysterious underwater world.

The film is scheduled to be released theatrically in China this year. An exact date has not been announced yet.
