Inside Out 2 Inside Out 2

Disney and Pixar have released a new trailer for Inside Out 2, loaded with new emotions and featuring all the joys and nightmares of being a teenager. The film will hit theaters on June 14.

Pixar and its parent company Disney will surely hope that this sequel, directed by Kelsey Mann, marks a return to form at the box office for the famed animation studio responsible for some of the biggest animation hits of all time.

Last year, Elemental did well to finish its global box office run at $496.4 million after a sluggish start, but that’s not a great figure by Pixar or Disney standards. Especially since the film had a reported budget of around $200 million.

Before that, Lightyear was one of 2022’s biggest box office duds, and a trio of Pixar films went straight to streaming: Soul, Lucca, Turning Red.

Pixar needs a hit, and a return to the Inside Out universe could be exactly what the Pete Docter, Pixar’s chief creative officer, ordered.

Here’s what we know about Inside Out 2:

  • Synopsis: Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out 2 returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Mindy Kaling and Bill Hader will not be returning to voice their respective roles from the original film.
