DreamWorks Pushes Back ‘Home’ to 2015

Six months before its scheduled release, DreamWorks Animation has pushed back the release date of “Home” from November 26, 2014, to March 27, 2015.

Takashi Murakami’s Feature Film Debut “Jellyfish Eyes” Arrives in the U.S.

“Jellyfish Eyes” marks the feature film directing debut of Japanese superstar artist Takashi Murakami. Described as a post-Fukushima sci-fi fantasy, the $7 million live-action/CGI hybrid film incorporates Murakami’s goofily-styled creatures throughout, as well as an appearance by his fine art character Miss Ko2.

Moonbot Studios Has Started to Develop Feature-Length Film Projects

The Oscar-winning Louisiana animation studio Moonbot recently announced that it is developing multiple feature-length film projects. It has acquired the film rights to two YA book series: the “Olivia Kidney” trilogy by Ellen Potter, which it plans to do as a live-action/animation hybrid; and “The Extincts” by Veronica Cossanteli.

Annecy Announces 18 Animated Features For 2014 Festival

Today the Annecy International Animated Film Festival announced the feature film selections for their 2014 edition. Eighteen films were selected—nine in competition and nine out of competition. A total of 68 animated features were submitted this year.

Teaser Trailer for Aardman’s ‘Shaun the Sheep Movie’

Starting out as a side character in the Wallace and Gromit short “A Close Shave” (1995), Shaun the Sheep became an unlikely franchise star. After getting his own line of merchandise and a spin-off television series (which was popular enough to spawn its own spin-off, “Timmy Time”) Shaun is set to become the subject of Aardman’s next feature in spring 2015. The film currently doesn’t appear to have a U.S. distributor.

‘Frozen’ Just Became The Highest-Grossing Animated Film Ever

This weekend, Disney’s “Frozen” became the highest grossing animated film of all time. Its $1.072 billion worldwide gross has surpassed the $1.063 billion of “Toy Story 3,” which was the previous record-holder for biggest animated feature.

11 New ‘How To Train Your Dragon 2’ Images

DreamWorks has released a stockpile of “How to Train Your Dragon 2” film stills and publicity shots on the film’s official website. There’s new renders of Hiccup, Astrid, and Stoick, along with the dragons, including a new one, Cloudjumper. The quality of lighting and atmosphere has progressed notably since the first film in 2010. The Dean DeBlois-directed sequel will arrive into U.S. theaters on June 13.
