Scholastic Debuts First Branded AVOD App With 400+ Hours Of Iconic Kids’ Content
Scholastic is entering the streaming game with its first-ever branded app, bringing together a slate from its iconic animated and live-action series for families. The initiative comes via a partnership between 9 Story Media Group, now part of Scholastic, and streaming specialist Future Today.
The new Scholastic service will be supported by ads and launched this week on Roku and Amazon Fire TV, with other platforms to follow. The app offers more than 400 hours of programming for kids ages 2–12, including generational classics such as Clifford the Big Red Dog, The Magic School Bus, Garfield, and Barney & Friends.
According to a company release, the move is part of a push to extend its reach across platforms and formats. Following Scholastic’s 2024 investment in 9 Story, the companies have been leveraging shared assets to grow Scholastic Entertainment’s presence in digital spaces. The AVOD app builds on earlier VOD rollouts of Scholastic titles managed by 9 Story’s digital division.
“We’re seeing strong demand for quality nostalgic content, and the Scholastic brand is trusted by families everywhere,” said Elianne Friend, VP of digital and distribution at 9 Story. “Future Today was the ideal partner to help us bring Scholastic’s beloved stories to new audiences. We’re excited to build on this momentum and continue expanding Scholastic Entertainment’s incredible catalog across global streaming platforms.”
David Di Lorenzo, SVP kids and family at Future Today, added: “Scholastic books and programs have been a cornerstone of childhood for generations, bringing characters and lessons that stay with us for life. With this new app, we’re ensuring families everywhere will have access to timeless stories that entertain, educate, and inspire – backed by a brand they know and trust.”
