Cinderella’s Stepsisters Get Their Own Fairy Tale In First Trailer For Netflix’s ‘Steps’

Netflix has released the first teaser for Steps, its upcoming animated feature that reimagines the Cinderella story from the perspective of her supposedly “evil” stepsisters.

Tired of living in Cinderella’s shadow, Lilith (Ali Wong) and her sister Margot (Stephanie Hsu) hijack the Royal Ball, inadvertently handing the kingdom to the scheming Priscilla (Nikki Glaser). Lilith must then team up with Cinderella (Amanda Seyfried) to set things right and repair their strained relationship.

Alyce Tzue and John Ripa direct the film. Tzue is a Student Academy Award gold medal winner, while Ripa previously served as a co-director on Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon. Amy Poehler, Jane Hartwell, and Kim Lessing produce, with Poehler and Lessing producing through Paper Kite Productions.

Ava Tramer, James Madejski, Jen Chuck, Dana Schwartz, and Felicia Ho wrote the screenplay from a story credited to Tramer, Madejski, Schwartz, Ho, Riki Lindhome, and Kate Micucci. Oscar-winning composer Kris Bowers (The Wild Robot, King Richard) created the film’s original score.

The film’s A-list voice cast also includes Daniel Radcliffe as the Prince, Young Mazino as Gef, Peter Dinklage as Roderick, Bette Midler as the Fairy Godmother, and WWE wrestler Damian Priest as Cracktor.

Steps hit Netflix worldwide on November 20.
