Briarcliff Entertainment has dropped a teaser for Stitch Head, the animated adaptation of Guy Bass’s beloved children’s book, ahead of its nationwide release on October 29. The film, arriving just in time for Halloween, will be distributed in association with Rabbits Black.

Directed and adapted by Steve Hudson (True North), Stitch Head made its world premiere earlier this summer at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Produced by GFM Animation and Assemblage Entertainment, the film blends spooky fun with heartfelt themes in what Briarcliff CEO Tom Ortenberg describes as “Frankenstein meets Monsters, Inc.”

Set high above the town of Grubbers Nubbin, the story follows Stitch Head (voiced by Asa Butterfield), the forgotten first creation of the mad professor of Castle Grotteskew. Stitch Head spends his days keeping unruly monsters in check, unnoticed and unthanked, until a rundown freak show led by the cunning Fulbert Freakfinder arrives, offering him the promise of fame, fortune, and perhaps even love.

The film is produced by Sonja Ewers and Mark Mertens, with worldwide sales handled by GFM Animation. Executive producers include Adam Nagle, Mark Rau, Guy Collins, and Ortenberg. Joining Butterfield in the voice cast are Joel Fry, Alison Steadman, Rob Brydon, Fern Brady, Tia Bannon, and Jamali Maddix.

Stitch Head is a delightful and funny family film,” said GFM Animation chairman Guy Collins. “With Briarcliff on board, we’re confident we’re on track for a global hit.”

Rated PG, Stitch Head promises an irreverent, monster-filled adventure for audiences of all ages when it opens nationwide this Halloween season.
