This summer, Canada-based content and brands company DHX Media will launch a new subscription-based video on demand (SVOD) service called Kids Room. The ad-free service, available on Comcast’s Xfinity X1, will draw kids and family content exclusively from DHX Media’s library.

At launch the service will include preschool shows such as Bob the Builder, Fireman Sam, In the Night Garden, Teletubbies, Polly Pocket, and Strawberry Shortcake. Other children’s content will include Slugterra (pictured at top), Kid vs. Kat, Chuck’s Choice, Endangered Species, Storm Hawks, Sabrina: The Animated Series, and Angela Anaconda. More series will be added in the future.

Joe Tedesco, EVP and GM, DHX Television said of the new service: “As one of the world’s leading producers and owners of children’s content, we see Kids Room as a natural touchpoint to entertain kids with great programming in the expanding landscape of streaming opportunities. We’ve selected some really fun shows for the service from our deep content library, and we’re confident children are going to love Kids Room.”

In the United States, X1 customers will be able to subscribe to Kids Room via the internet by saying the name of the service into their X1 voice remote or by looking for it on the networks section of Xfinity on Demand. Subscription cost for U.S. customers is $4.99 per month. Additionally, Kids Room will be available on Xfinity Flex to Comcast’s internet-only customers.
