Lionel Messi’s animated sports-fantasy series Messi and the Giants has its first teaser, with the show set to debut globally on Disney+ in summer 2027.
The first look was unveiled today at San Diego Comic-Con Málaga, where executive producers Lacey Stanton and Bryan Korn of Sony Pictures Television, director Dan Creteur of Atlantis Studios, and Sony Music Vision executive producer Sergi Reitg presented the series to a crowd of more than 3,000.
Messi and the Giants centers on Leo, a 12-year-old boy trapped in an alternate reality ruled by giants. His route home involves competing in soccer-like battles using powerful “orbs,” taking on legendary giants, and trying to reunite the fractured realms of Iko. Unlike his opponents, Leo can’t use the world’s code powers to boost his game, so he has to rely on skill, teamwork, and determination.
Messi is among the series’ executive producers, alongside Kurt Mueller, Bryan Korn, Lacey Stanton, and Guy Toubes for Sony Pictures Television; Afo Verde for Sony Music Latin Iberia; and Tom Mackay and Sergi Reitg for Sony Music Vision. Jorge Messi Pérez is credited posthumously as an executive producer.
Canary Islands-based Atlantis Animation is handling animation production.
Messi and the Giants will also air on Disney Channel in the U.S. beginning in summer 2027.
