‘The Wingfeather Saga’ Sets Season 4 Premiere, Adds Dan Stevens And Jim Broadbent To Voice Cast (EXCLUSIVE)

Angel (fka Angel Studios) has set an October 21 premiere date for the fourth season of its CG fantasy series The Wingfeather Saga, and Cartoon Brew has an exclusive first look at the new season’s teaser.

Based on Andrew Peterson’s bestselling fantasy novels, the series follows the Wingfeather children, Janner, Kalmar, and Leeli, as they discover their family’s royal heritage and become caught up in a conflict with the villainous Gnag the Nameless.

Season four adapts The Monster in the Hollows, the third book in Peterson’s series. The new episodes find the Wingfeathers fleeing Gnag and his army of Fangs for the Green Hollows, where Kalmar’s Fang-like appearance is greeted with fear and suspicion.

While Nia reconnects with old friends and traditions, the children enroll at Guildling Hall. Leeli studies Houndry, while Kalmar and Janner train with the Durgan Guild. But the family’s attempt to build a new life in Ban Rona is threatened by growing distrust and conflicts that could tear the Wingfeathers apart.

This season sees significant new voice casting additions, with Dan Stevens (Beauty and the Beast, Downton Abbey) set to play Esben Wingfeather, joining Oscar winner Jim Broadbent, who voices Bonifer Squoon. Other new additions include Nadia Quinn as Madame Sidler, Sam Clark as Rudric, Noah Rafferty as Grigory, and Lin Gallagher as Olumphia.

Returning cast members include Jodi Benson as Nia Wingfeather, Kevin McNally as Podo Helmer, Alkaio Thiele as Janner, Henry Witcher as Kalmar, Romy Fay as Leeli, David Oyelowo as General Timber, Henry Ian Cusick as Artham Wingfeather, and Kari Wahlgren in multiple roles. Matthew Rhys will reprise his role as Gammon in season five.

Nashville-based Shining Isle Productions produces the series using a proprietary Unreal Engine character animation pipeline designed to give its CG imagery a hand-painted appearance. Lion Forge Entertainment handles additional international distribution.

Originally launched through a record-breaking crowdfunding campaign, The Wingfeather Saga has become one of Angel’s most important animated properties. The company acquired the franchise outright in 2025, after the series generated more than 40 million minutes viewed on its platform over a ten-month period.

Angel says Wingfeather was its highest-rated streaming title of 2025. The company has already greenlit a fifth season, announced at Annecy’s Mifa market in June, and it is scheduled to debut in fall 2027.

The first three seasons are currently available on Angel’s streaming platform and app. Season four premieres October 21.
