‘Goldie,’ ‘Strawberry Vampire’ Creator Emily Brundige Inspires New ‘Frames Per Second’ Animated Short

Aha Media’s animated anthology Frames Per Second is turning its attention to Emily Brundige, creator of the Emmy-nominated Apple TV+ series Goldie and viral indie series Strawberry Vampire.

The fourth installment uses autobiographical storytelling and original animation to explore Brundige’s family history and the experiences that shaped her highly influential work. That history also sits at the heart of Strawberry Vampire, her animated comedy inspired by her Hungarian Jewish grandparents, who survived the Holocaust before rebuilding their lives in Southern California.

Aha Media produced the short through its Immersive Internship Program in partnership with Columbus College of Art & Design. Students worked alongside industry professionals in a production environment designed to give emerging artists hands-on experience making a publicly released animated film.

Ahead of the episode’s release, Brundige said:

I’m so honored and touched that Aha Media decided to feature my family’s story with such beautiful style and storytelling. I’m amazed by the caliber of work from the animation students at CCAD who helped bring my story to life. I hope my story inspires other creators to find their survival gene and to keep going even when life throws its many punches. I feel it’s important to tell these stories to show that there’s not just one path to creating, especially in times of
uncertainty… like the moment we’re living in right now.

This is the second consecutive Frames Per Second installment produced through the Aha-CCAD partnership. The previous short profiled producer and Surviving Animation host Eric Calderon.

The Brundige short will premiere September 17 on Aha Media’s YouTube channel.
