Koati Koati

Netflix has picked up Koati, a 13-episode animated series originally developed as a ViX Original by Upstairs Miami and LatinWE. It will premiere on November 13, streaming in both English and Spanish across multiple territories, including the U.S., Canada, Latin America, the U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

Created by Melissa de Assís Escobar and Anabella Sosa-Dovarganes and executive produced by Sofía Vergara, Koati brings the lush world of the Latin American rainforest to life through the eyes of four curious animal friends: Nachi, Xochi, Pako, and Xuxu. Their adventures in the magical land of XO blend comedy, music, and movement, teaching kids about friendship, empathy, and the beauty of nature.

Behind the scenes, Anabella Sosa-Dovarganes serves as showrunner, with de Assís Escobar co-writing alongside Federico Marcello. Sergio Slepczuk and Fernando Sawa direct episodes, while Julio Reyes-Copello of Magnus Studios handles the musical production.

Speaking with Deadline, which broke the news of the Netflix acquisition, Vergara explained that it’s long been a goal of hers to produce a show for kids that “celebrates the nature, animals, family values, and music of Latin America.”

Joining Vergara in the series ensemble voice cast are Adriana Barraza as Amaya, Juan Pablo Monterrubio as Nachi, Habana Zoé López as Xochi, Emilio Treviño as Pako, Andrea Valentina Cabrera as Xuxu, and Sebas Villalobos as Calli.
