Stinetinglers Stinetinglers

Canada has a new animation player, and it’s joining the party with a high-profile horror IP. Limestone Animation, a Kingston-based studio founded by industry veterans Sean Connolly and Donnie MacIntyre, announced its launch today alongside its first project: an animated adaptation of R.L. Stine’s Stinetinglers.

The series, based on Stine’s ongoing horror anthologies for middle-grade readers, marks the first time one of the author’s properties will be produced specifically for animation. Stine, best known for Goosebumps and Fear Street, has sold more than 500 million books worldwide and seen decades of live-action adaptations, from television series to feature films.

Stine said in a release:

Animation is the perfect medium to tell the twisted tales of Stinetinglers. These spooky stories will be brought to life in a way unlike any of my work before. But more than that, I was blown away by the unique spin the team at Limestone Animation proposed, and I immediately knew they were the right partners to bring to screen my newest stories. My lips are sealed, but I can’t wait for the world to see what they have in store!

The Stinetinglers books, published by Feiwel and Friends/Macmillan, center on the seemingly peaceful town of Blooming Hills, where teens face mysterious and often terrifying forces. Four volumes are already on shelves, with a fifth planned for 2026.

Connolly and MacIntyre, who are serving as co-CEOs of the new company, said the project captures what they want their studio to stand for.

We’re honored that R.L. Stine has trusted us with his latest book series. Stinetinglers is the perfect project to launch our studio with because it represents everything we want Limestone Animation to be: the home of creative storytelling that is bold, imaginative, and designed to bring audiences of all ages together. There’s nothing like a little spooky fun to unite generations.

The series will be executive produced by Connolly, MacIntyre, Stine, and Eric Birnberg, alongside Yvonne Bernard and Dan Bernard of California-based Lookout Entertainment, which manages Stine’s catalogue across media.

Limestone Animation plans to use modern production pipelines and technology while keeping a strong creative focus, an approach the founders say is key for competing in a global content market. The studio will make its international debut later this month at Mipcom in Cannes, where it’s expected to pitch Stinetinglers to buyers.
