Co-directed by Brenda Chapman, Steve Hickner, and Simon Wells, Dreamworks Animation’s first hand-drawn feature, The Prince of Egypt, celebrated its 20th anniversary last year and is now poised to debut as a stage musical in London in early 2020.
Featuring a score by Stephen Schwartz, the new adaptation of the 1998 film is scheduled to start previews at the Dominion Theatre in the city’s West End district on February 5, 2020 with an official opening on February 25. It is scheduled to run for 32 weeks.
The Oscar-winning song “When You Believe” will be part of the musical along with the other four songs that appeared in the film. Additionally, Schwartz has written ten new numbers for the stage version. Philip LaZebnik, who penned the original screenplay, wrote the musical’s book.
