Mediatoon Distribution is deepening its collaboration with Ankama Animations by taking on international sales for the upcoming animated adventure Montclair & The Mechanical Mysteries.

The series, commissioned by France Télévisions and set for delivery in spring 2026, is aimed at children aged 6–9 and has already presold to TV5Monde. The show is co-produced by Pictanovo and Belvision, Mediatoon’s Belgian sister studio.

Adapted from Laurent Audouin’s bestselling book collection Les Aventures Fantastiques de Sacré-Cœur, the series transports young viewers to a magical version of early 20th-century Paris. It follows Montclair, a spirited young inventor who faces off against the hapless but relentless villain Hector de la Tour. Each episode sees Hector hatching grandiose schemes involving Parisian landmarks, only to be outwitted by Montclair’s ever-more inventive creations. He’s joined by an eclectic team: Abigail, a ghost from Scotland; and neighbors Lison and Emile, who help turn every challenge into a fantastical romp across Paris.

The adaptation expands the original universe with new antagonists and settings, while retaining its emphasis on creativity and teamwork. The property has also inspired a traveling exhibition with craft workshops, underlining its strong transmedia potential going forward.

“We couldn’t be more excited about Ankama’s latest top-tier production,” said Morgann Favennec, deputy manager of Mediatoon Distribution. “Every new script and visual brings Paris to life in unexpected ways.” Patricia Robert, Director of Audiovisual at Ankama Animations, added that Mediatoon’s global reach is “a valuable asset in supporting this ambitious series.”

The announcement follows Mediatoon’s recent partnerships with Bayard, Moukda, and Primal Shape, reinforcing its strategy of diversifying its catalogue. With over 10,000 half-hours of content – including Garfield, Tintin and Trotro – Mediatoon remains a key player in global kids and family animation.
