Halifax, Canada-based media company DHX Media has signed a deal with Sony Pictures Animation to adapt Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs into a “traditionally-animated” TV series.

The deal allows DHX to produce 26 half-hour episodes, and handle global TV sales and non-U.S. home entertainment rights (Sony will handle U.S. home entertainment). No network has picked up the show yet, but DHX plans to pitch it to both traditional broadcasters and digital outlets.

DHX owns Canadian children’s network Family Channel, as well as the Canadian versions of Disney Junior and Disney XD, and oversees properties like Yo Gabba Gabba!, Caillou, Johnny Test, and Inspector Gadget.
