Warner Bros. Pictures Animation has set a November 12, 2027, theatrical release for its Melissa McCarthy-led Christmas feature Margie Claus.
Directed by The Croods and Vivo filmmaker Kirk DeMicco and featuring animation by DNEG, the animated musical follows Mrs. Claus after Santa disappears on Christmas Eve. To rescue her husband and save the holiday, Margie assembles a ragtag team of long-retired reindeer.
The film features a screenplay by Ben Falcone (The Looney Tunes Show, Tammy) and Damon Jones (Billy Dilley’s Super-Duper Subterranean Summer, Flipped). McCarthy and Falcone are producing through their On the Day Productions banner alongside Michelle Wong, whose credits include Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters. Grammy-winner Meghan Trainor will write and produce original songs for the film.
Margie Claus was first announced as a live-action McCarthy project nearly a decade ago, with New Line initially scheduling it for release in 2019. Warner Bros. revived the project as an animated feature in 2024.
McCarthy will voice the title character, with newly announced cast members Jim Gaffigan as Santa and Andrew Scott as Jack Frost. Annie Mumolo, Georgette Falcone, Octavia Spencer, Gary Farmer, Luis Gerardo Méndez, Cedric Yarbrough, and Maria Bakalova have also joined the ensemble. They’ll appear alongside previously announced Oh, Mary! creator and star Cole Escola, who voices Margie’s right-hand elf, Levi.
