Netflix Unveils London-Set Period Anime ‘Love Through A Prism’ From Wit Studio, ‘Boys Over Flowers’ Writer Yoko Kamio
Netflix Japan has unveiled Love Through a Prism, an original, London-set anime series set for a January 15, 2026, global release.
Produced by the prolific WIT Studio (Attack on Titan, Spy x Family), the series blends early-1900s London period drama with the emotional intensity of creator Yoko Kamio’s world-famous storytelling. Best known for the iconic manga Boys Over Flowers – one of the best-selling manga of all time, which was also adapted as a hugely popular K-drama – Kamio writes with direction by Kazuto Nakazawa, whose credits include B: The Beginning and the animated sequence in Kill Bill: Volume 1.
The 20-episode series follows Lili Ichijoin, a Japanese exchange student who arrives in England to study painting at a prestigious academy. Pressured by her family to reach the top of her class within six months, Lili throws herself into her work until she meets Kit Church, an aristocratic prodigy. Kit’s talent and aloof nature initially keep others at a distance, but Lili’s sincerity begins to shift his perspective, setting the stage for a cross-cultural romance shaped by ambition, social class, and the era’s rigid expectations.
According to Kamio:
This is the story of Lili, who blazes through her time with love, courage, and romance. In our society, where it is becoming difficult to talk about hopes and dreams, and where common things we take for granted are fading away, I hope this series can be a light for those who watch it.
The show’s cast features a who’s who of Japanese anime voice talent, led by Atsumi Tanezaki (Spy x Family) and Koki Uchiyama (Jujutsu Kaisen), who are joined by Yuki Kaji, Megumi Han, Yohei Azakami, Shogo Sakata, Sumire Uesaka, Akari Kito, Hochu Otsuka, Yuhko Kaida, and Junichi Suwabe.
