Two New ‘One Piece’ Movies Announced For 2027 And 2029

Toei Animation is doubling down on One Piece, in this case literally, with two new theatrical features set to hit theaters in 2027 and 2029.

The films, One Piece Film God Valley and One Piece Film Baad, were revealed on Sunday during the One Piece Day ’26 event in Chiba, Japan. A brief and misleadingly titled “super teaser” offered a peek at both projects, although no production details, directors, or key creative personnel have yet been announced.

God Valley will hit Japanese theaters in the summer of 2027, timed to the 30th anniversary of Eiichiro Oda’s original manga. The film will adapt the currently evolving God Valley flashback, part of the anime’s Elbaph arc.

The project marks a notable departure from the franchise’s recent theatrical releases. While films such as One Piece Film: Red, Stampede, and Gold largely told standalone stories, God Valley is adapting material directly from Oda’s manga. Moving the storyline into theaters gives Toei an opportunity to exploit one of anime’s hottest ongoing stories on a feature scale.

Far less is known about One Piece Film Baad, which is scheduled for 2029, the year of the television anime’s 30th anniversary. No story details have been revealed, though the teaser included a title treatment drawn by Oda himself.

International release plans for either film remain unconfirmed.

The two movies will be the first theatrical One Piece releases since 2022’s One Piece Film: Red, which became the franchise’s biggest box office success to date and helped prove that anime can make serious money in Western cinemas. The new projects arrive as One Piece continues to expand globally through Toei’s long-running animated series and Netflix’s live-action, LEGO, and CG adaptations.
