BURBANK, CA (July 10, 2012) — Animation legend Chuck Jones’ remarkable work is the focus of Warner Home Video’s (WHV) latest Looney Tunes title with the DVD & Blu-ray â„¢ release of Looney Tunes The Chuck Jones Collection Mouse Chronicles, available in stores August 28, 2012. This unique collection is comprised of 19 remastered, theatrical shorts that showcase some of animation’s most delightfully mischievous mice and their daring adventures. All cartoons featured on this set are released on Blu-ray for the first time. Looney Tunes The Chuck Jones Collection Mouse Chronicles will retail for $34.99 SRP (Blu-ray) and $26.99 SRP (DVD).

Meet Sniffles, the incredibly cute, sweet-natured but naïve little mouse whose curious nature lands him in the most precarious predicaments. In Naughty But Mice, which is featured in this set, theater-goers came to know this adorable little rodent as a lovable, wide-eyed simpleton with a talent for getting himself into big trouble. Jones however, continued to evolve Sniffles’ character over the years, taking him into a slightly different direction. Twelve Sniffles-centered shorts are included in this release.

On the opposite end of the rodent spectrum, we find Hubie and Bertie. A trouble-loving twosome with a passion for pranks, these two mischievous, wise-cracking and worldly mice served as Jones’ departure from the cute and naïve characters he had first been known for. Audiences were exposed to the fast-talking duo in Aristo-Cat, one of the shorts featured in this collection. Hubie and Bertie solidified a new direction for Jones. This change paid off with the Oscar®-nominated Mouse Wreckers, (1949, Best Short Subject, Cartoons) which finds Hubie and Bertie tormenting their favorite nemesis Claude the Cat with rapid-fire humor and sight gags galore. Seven shorts featuring Hubie and Bertie are included in this collection.

“Chuck Jones’ extraordinary body of work has generated some of animation’s most distinct characters and we are delighted to celebrate his work with this unique, new collection,” said Mary Ellen Thomas, Vice President Family & Animation Marketing and Partner Brands. She added, “Our goal was to build a collection that showcases important Looney Tunes characters that don’t often get to be in the forefront. We think consumers will enjoy the selections we chose to release on this set.”
