Titmouse Foundation, Warrior Art Camp Team On Animation Education Scholarship Program

Titmouse Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by leading independent animation studio Titmouse, is partnering with Warrior Art Camp, an online art training initiative, to host a new 20-week scholarship course established to create equitable education opportunities for animators looking to progress in their careers.

The Future Art Directors Program will take place from late January 2024 through June 2024, headed by Arthur Loftis, a Titmouse art director who has worked on major productions such as The Legend of Vox Machina, Voltron: Legendary Defender, and Motorcity.

According to Loftus:

Mentoring aspiring animators is something that’s extremely important to me. Through the Future Art Directors Program, I want participants to feel equal parts inspired and armed with the right kind of knowledge that will help them have a competitive advantage in taking their careers to the next level.

Classes will be held once per week on Zoom for three to four hours. Participants will have access to lectures, guest panels, co-working sessions, and practical exercises and will be expected to spend at least 8-20 hours on homework assignments. Topics covered over the course of the program include style guide creation, script and animatic breakdown, and asset packaging.

The program is open to artists from across the U.S. with at least four years of experience working in animation. Interested applicants can find out more and apply here.

Future Art Directors is funded through scholarships provided by the Titmouse Foundation with support from Amazon Studios. Only scholarship recipients will have full access to the curriculum and assignment feedback, although other participants can join the guest lectures for a fee.

Titmouse Co-founder Shannon Prynoski said in a release:

Our goal is to empower creatives to focus on honing their craft and to think big when it comes to their career, relieving any concerns of financial limitations that could be roadblocks in their journey. We hope that in offering this scholarship-based education, we ultimately open the door for more diversity and inclusion at the studio leadership level moving forward.
