HBO (and subsidiary label HBO Latino) have picked up U.S. rights to Rafael Ribas’ cg comedy-adventure from Brazil called Lino 3D (English title: Lino: An Adventure of Nine Lives). The deal was made at the Cannes Film Market.

Previously covered on Cartoon Brew, the 2017 Brazilian movie is about a frustrated children’s birthday party entertainer who is transformed by a clumsy wizard into the thing he hates most: his cat costume.

At Cannes, Argentinean sales agent Filmsharks also sold the film in French-speaking Canada to Cinemas Guzzo, which has guaranteed a minimum of 50 screens in the territory.

Top theatrical markets for Lino include Brazil ($1.1 million), Russia ($966k), and Mexico ($560k).

Deadline first reported the news about the U.S. and Canada pick-ups of Lino.
