With San Diego Comic-Con kicking off tomorrow, we were thrilled to exclusively debut the U.S. trailer for ¡Viva Calavera!’s Rey Mysterio vs. the Darkness and a clip from the brilliant-looking documentary TEZUKA! God of Manga, both of which will be present at this year’s event.
We were less excited to have to report on the third significant round of layoffs at Disney this year under new CEO Josh D’Amaroo, which will reportedly hit Pixar hardest among the company’s film businesses.
In other news, Oscar-winning Brave director Mark Andrews signed on to co-showrun a proposed John Carter, Warlord of Mars animated series adaptation; Disney Jr. quietly released Ozzy Fox, a new kids and family YouTube-native series produced by France’s Animaj; Spain’s Weird Market has a new home as part of the legendary Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival (surely the biggest news from Spain this week?); and Kosovo’s Anibar unveiled its 2026 winners.
