This week we take a look at the work of Tom Davis, a cg character animator at Sony Pictures Imageworks. He has worked on many of the studio’s recent high-profile features, such as Storks, the Hotel Transylvania series, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Davis’s animation includes some of these films’ standout sequences, such as Spider-Ham’s entry in Spider-Verse and Count Dracula’s breakdance in Hotel Transylvania 2. His reel demonstrates a talent for dynamic, highly stylized slapstick and action set-pieces. Fellow Sony animator Nick Kondo has tweeted praise for Davis, describing him as “a super graphic animator with awesome silhouettes.”

Davis has been a character animator at Sony since 2014. Prior to that, he worked for such companies as Bardel Entertainment, Flying Bark Productions, and Oktobor Animation, according to his Linkedin profile.
