‘Steven Universe’ Recap: ‘Rose’s Room’

Reading beforehand what this episode was supposed to be about, my mind completely went somewhere else. Steven’s at that age when boys want alone time for a very specific reason and while I was 99.9% sure Cartoon Network wasn’t going to go that far, I thought they’d at least allude to that idea of adolescence and growing up. Instead we dived into the real reason (sort of) that Steven wanted to be left alone, and dug a little deeper into the idea of his parental units via a room and a weird, very strange world created by said room.

Fox Is Scrapping Its Late-Night Animation Block ADHD

Fox's experiment with late-night animation didn't go as well as they had anticipated. The network will end its Saturday late-night animation block ADHD (Animation Domination High-Def) in June, less than a year after it began. It was originally created as a replacement for the cancelled sketch comedy show "MADtv."

‘Johnny Bravo’ Creator Van Partible Talks About New Dance-Combat Game

Van Partible, the creator of Cartoon Network’s Nineties series "Johnny Bravo," is making the rounds with a new third-person video game concept called Dancers of War. In the game, Marine Sgt. Jack Dancer is out to save the world from a maniacal pop star by strapping on an exoskeleton/leotard called “The Exo-Tard 3000.”

‘Dexter’s Lab’ Comic Will Be Published by IDW

Next month, IDW, the publishing company that partnered with Cartoon Network last year for the comic book revivals of "The Powerpuff Girls" and "Samurai Jack," will be adding "Dexter’s Laboratory" to their library of monthly titles.

Continuing the inexplicable trend of people named Chris directing animated features, Chris McKay, the animation co-director of "The LEGO Movie," will direct the film's sequel, which is currently set for a May 26, 2017 release.

Animator and filmmaker Michael Sporn, a man who represented the spirit and vitality of New York's animation scene as much as any other single individual, passed away from pancreatic cancer on January 19. He was 67.
