Panini’s ‘Fantasy Riders’ Getting Animated Adaptation, First Teaser Drops Ahead Of Cartoon Forum Pitch (EXCLUSIVE)

Hampa Studio has unveiled the first teaser for Fantasy Riders, an ambitious new action-adventure series that the Spanish producer will pitch at Cartoon Forum this week.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world ruled by mutant beasts, the story follows a band of outlaws charged with escorting a young girl whose forbidden ability to control the creatures could either save what remains of civilization or destroy it. Hampa describes the show’s visual and tonal approach as European anime, combining irreverent action with an emotionally driven story.

The series expands the universe of Panini’s Fantasy Riders trading cards and board games, first launched in 2018. That existing mythology gives Hampa plenty of monsters, factions, and lore to draw from, along with obvious possibilities beyond the screen.

Aimed at audiences aged 8-14, Fantasy Riders is planned as 10 traditionally animated 22-minute episodes. According to the producer, the €4 million ($4.7 million) project has secured more than 20% of its financing, with Spanish public broadcaster RTVE attached as a co-producer.

Hampa will arrive at Cartoon Forum looking for European broadcasters and additional partners.
