As the holiday season rolls along, streaming services continue to serve up seasonal content to subscribers.
Netflix has two original animated features on its December Calendar, the cg musical Scrooge: A Christmas Carol and the stop-motion Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio. The former is produced by Timeless Films in association with Axis Studios and got its first trailer last month. The latter is one of the year’s most hyped animated features and a favorite to get a best animated feature nod at the upcoming Oscars.
The final season of Disney fan favorite The Owl House will finally hit Disney+ in December, along with several kids and family titles. HBO Max has a glut of holiday specials from some of Warners’ most popular animated kids and family IPs. And Apple TV+ will make A Charlie Brown Christmasfree to stream from December 23-25.
Otherwise, December sees the return of a load of catalog content headlined by Dreamworks’ Puss in Boots, which will land on Prime Video and Peacock ahead of the theatrical premiere of its sequel, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
A few notes on the list: The list includes announcements for new seasons of existing shows, however we do not list new episode releases of existing seasons, as some streamers roll out new episodes in monthly batches. Streamers also often announce new animation releases mid-month. Our guide only catalogs what the streamers announce at the beginning of the month, but, when possible, we try to update the schedule if there are mid-month announcements. The list only includes content that is premiering on the U.S. versions of these services.
