REPORT: LA County Report Says Paramount-WBD Merger Could Devastate Los Angeles’ Production Workforce

MeTV Toons’ fall schedule is a characteristically eclectic mix of familiar favorites, deep cuts, and cartoons you may not have had the chance to watch in decades.

Beginning September 21, the network will add Sonic the Hedgehog, Heathcliff, and The Quick Draw McGraw Show to its weekday lineup. Of those, Quick Draw McGraw is the most significant addition, since rights and materials issues have kept the Hanna-Barbera series largely out of circulation in recent years.

Neal Sabin, vice chairman of Weigel Broadcasting Co., explained in a release:

Along with Huckleberry Hound and Yogi Bear, Quick Draw McGraw was one of the highlights of Hanna-Barbera’s tremendous impact on made-for-TV cartoons. Because of rights and materials issues, the show has not been available for broadcast and greater distribution in years. Warner Bros. Discovery painstakingly produced a stellar restoration of the series, including opens, closes, and, of course, the cartoon segments featuring not only Quick Draw, but Snooper and Blabber and Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy. This series has been the most requested and anticipated by our viewers, and we are thrilled to bring it to them on MeTV Toons.

The schedule also includes some enjoyably strange programming choices. A new Sunday-night block, Situation Animation, collects animated spin-offs of live-action shows, including The Fonz and the Happy Days Gang, The New Adventures of Gilligan, Jeannie, and The Addams Family.

Elsewhere, Cartoon Carousel will spotlight a different classic series each week, while Animation Antiques will feature shorts from the 1930s and ’40s. Other incoming titles include Centurions, The Mask, and Police Academy: The Animated Series.
