Dreamworks released a new clip this afternoon from its next feature, Trolls, out November 4, 2016 in the U.S.

The Mike Mitchell and Walt Dohrn-directed movie, looks to be shaping up into something agreeably light and silly, a tone that Dreamworks has rarely been able to pull off in the past. There’s undeniable appeal and decisiveness in the production design, too, that’s worlds away from the banal environments of Mr. Peabody & Sherman and Home.

The studio revealed more extensive footage at Cannes today, and an optimistic report in The Guardian quoted an unnamed “key industry player” who “went so far as to say the sophistication on display recalled [Pixar’s] Inside Out.” The same piece also reported that audiences “especially enjoyed a bit where a scared troll pooped out cupcakes.” Cute cartoon characters pooping might indeed be the second biggest animation trend this year behind yoga gags.
