Craig McCracken, Lauren Faust, Paul Rudish And Original ‘Powerpuff Girls’ Voice Actors To Reunite For Glendale Fundraiser

Powerpuff Girls creator Craig McCracken will help reunite members of the Cartoon Network series’ original creative team and voice cast for The Heroes of Townsville, a one-night fundraiser taking place November 7 at Glendale, California’s Alex Theatre.

Curated in partnership with McCracken, the event will feature a panel with original series artists Lauren Faust and Paul Rudish, alongside voice actors Catherine Cavadini (Blossom), Tara Strong (Bubbles), and E.G. Daily (Buttercup). Longtime animation executive and producer Linda Simensky will moderate, with additional guests expected to be announced.

Sadly, the reunion will be missing one of the show’s most familiar voices: Tom Kane, who voiced Professor Utonium and HIM and died in May at age 64.

Actor and voice artist Eric Bauza will host the evening, which will also include a screening of Next Friday: Magical Meow Meow, an independent animated short by Jen Nguyen and Mary Ramos.

Scottish indie-pop trio Bis will perform live at the event. The band created and performed the original Powerpuff Girls end theme and will reunite with the franchise for what organizers are billing as a rare live performance.

McCracken created The Powerpuff Girls, which premiered on Cartoon Network in 1998 and became one of the network’s signature original series. Faust and Rudish were both key members of the show’s creative team during its original run.

The evening will also feature animation, exclusive merchandise, themed photo opportunities, and a pop-up marketplace. A portion of proceeds will benefit Starlight Children’s Foundation, which supports seriously ill children and their families, while additional proceeds will support organizer Saturday Morning Cartoons United, a nonprofit screening series focused on legacy animation.

Last year, Saturday Morning Cartoons United held a fundraiser centered on Pee-wee’s Playhouse Christmas Special, which the organization says raised more than $40,000 for local initiatives.

The Heroes of Townsville takes place Saturday, November 7, at the Alex Theatre in Glendale. Doors open at 5 p.m., with the program beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available through the theater.
